Making Dreams Come True
At COLE each and every child, as a learner of worth and dignity, will achieve stellar academic success in math, science, and humanities through developed communication skills, artistic creativity, scientific inquiry, and advanced technology. This mission’s statement drives the work which happens both in and out of the classroom here at Cole. We believe in every student and assure that they are equipped with the necessary tools and resources to achieve their dreams and academic goals.
Innovation in Action
Cole Arts and Science Academy is an Innovation School within the Denver Public School District. Innovation status provides autonomy to the school to manage the budget, personnel, and curriculum. We use this autonomy to drive Dramatic Student Achievement through teacher effectiveness, data-driven decisions, and a culture of student success.
Setting Students up for Success
The culture at Cole is not only one of high academic standards but also an incredibly high level of positivity in preparation for future success. Students in the 1st grade at Cole begin learning about career paths, meeting working professionals, attending college tours, and planning for their continued education after high school. Cole has created a strong culture where students are being set up to succeed long after they have left elementary and middle school. Our culture is supported in daily classroom Morning Meetings and weekly grade level Community Meetings where expectations are revisited and students are recognized for academic and social achievements.
Teacher Effectiveness
Staff at Cole must be highly qualified, caring, and compassionate. We are looking for dedicated, hard workers who are committed to excellence in the classroom. Collaboration among staff is imperative to the success of Cole therefore our culture includes an interdependent professional learning community. We share Best Practice Training and our Admin team has logged 81 individual classroom observations in the first semester. Staff at Cole can expect: strong and supportive leadership, clear and constant communication about expectations and progress, professional learning opportunities, positive work environment.
Data-Driven
Cole integrates technology into the classroom to enhance learning and provide real-time assessments of student understanding. We then work together to transform the data into targeted learning strategies to drive individual student achievement. Our target is 1.5 years growth in every student in order to close the gap for our students.
